Are Botox And Filler Right For You?

I know there are so many questions regarding the topic of botox and filler and I am happy to answer them all! Are they right for me? When should you schedule it in according to your wedding? Is the cost worth the benefit?

I like my money where I can see it...
On my face.

The decision to get any medical enhancements done is wholly your own decision along with your doctor. Do not make any decisions until you consult with your doctor or dermatologist.

So let’s talk about Botox first. Botox is an injection of Botulinum toxin to paralyze the muscle. It can help prevent and get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, prevent sweat and help with asymmetrical eyes which a lot of people would love to have before their wedding along with many other benefits. Botox is also nearly painless. I always say that your skin is a canvas of my painting, and the foundation/makeup can only cover, it does not change anything. If you want to appear to have less wrinkles, fuller under eyes and smoother skin, botox and filler will be a huge positive change for you.

Now lets talk about filler. Facial fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are used to temporarily make a person's face appear rested, rejuvenated, and younger. These injections can plump thinning lips, give eyebrows a lift, enhance cheekbones, erase under-eye circles, and smooth smile lines. Filler causes more discomfort than botox does and is often used with a numbing cream first.

How Much Does

It All Cost?

After you decide if the procedures are right for you, the next thought is how much the investment will be. Cost will depend greatly on where you go. Botox is charged as units and are generally $11-$16pu in the Chicago area. The final cost will depend on how much you’ll need to meet your goals. Dermal filler is charged per syringe or unit, and can range anywhere from $500 - $1,2oo per syringe.

If you decide dermal filler or Botox are right for you, the next step is finding a reputable medical facility that provides this service. Injections are only legally permitted to medical professionals such as RNs, NP, and MD. Medical spas and dermatology offices are the best way to go. Be honest with the professional doing your injections about your goals and fears. Don’t pick somewhere based only on price. Look up their reviews, photos of “before and afters” and find a person whose work looks similar to your goals. Start getting them about 9 months to a year ahead of time so you have an idea if you like it or want to make any changes before your wedding. As I always say, do NOT try anything new within a month of your wedding. Starting all skin treatments 9m - 12m ahead of time is the best way to see real results and also ensure you won’t have any reactions with your wedding around the corner.

I hope this helps you make the best decision you can for yourself.

Tips to prep your skin for the most glowing complexion on your wedding day
Be good to your skin. You’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life.
— Renée Rouleau

Have you ever wondered how some brides just glow different? Is it the joy of the day or is it their skincare? Makeup and a tan definitely help but there are so many tips and tricks to get your complexion glowing from head to toe.

  1. Start as soon as you can with upping your H2o. Keeping your body hydrated will help your skin look and feel more youthful and hydrated.

  2. If you don’t have one already, start a daily skincare regime. Cleanse, exfoliate (1-2x a week), tone and moisturize every morning and night. I always tell my clients to massage their cleanser in for 60 seconds! It really helps cleanse the pores and brighten up the complexion. I would be happy to help you start a new regime if you’re looking for a place to start! Some of my favorite skincare products come from Sonia Roselli Beauty! I included a link below to her page. Try her Ageless Beauty package to help hydrate your skin!

  3. If you get a blemish, do not pick at it. Try these CosRX Pimple Patches listed below! They work amazing to help flatten inflamed comedones.

  4. Get professional skincare treatments! See a licensed esthetician for a skin consultation and see what they recommend. Classic facials, enzymes and dermaplaning facials are very popular pre wedding services.

  5. Most gowns show off your decolletage so when you cleanse and exfoliate, include your neck and chest!

  6. Although your dress may not show off the rest of your body, having soft and smooth skin all over is still desirable. Dry brushing is a great way to gently exfoliate your body before a shower and moisturizing. It also can help your spray tan go on smoother! This vegan bamboo dry brush listed below is a great option!

  7. Use gentle cleansers and moisturize daily to prevent coarse and dry hands. Your hands will be front and center when you show off your bling! Manicures and Pedicures are always great ideas to help slough off any dry areas and keep the cuticles clean.

  8. SPF EVERY SINGLE DAY! And I mean every single day, no matter the weather! SPF prevents premature aging/wrinkles/fine lines, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. I love this facial SPF from Image Skincare listed below!

Here are some of my favorite products that can help up your skincare game!

When should you schedule your bridal trial?

What is a bridal trial? And why do I need one?

You’ve picked the perfect person. Picked a date and booked a gorgeous venue. You said, “Yes to the dress” and hired the photographer of your dreams. You have found a makeup artist and stylist who will help you look and feel your absolute best. But, how can you ensure that your wedding day glam is going to be everything you have imagined? This is where a bridal trial comes into play!

A trial is essentially a “trial run” of your hair and makeup for the big day. A trial can help eliminate the stress and help you look your absolute best on your wedding day. Also, it is loads of fun to get glammed up for the day! We love when our brides use their trial for a shower or bachelorette party.

Now, when should you actually schedule your bridal trial? I schedule my bridal trials 4-8 weeks from your wedding day. This ensures your artist still has your gorgeous glam fresh in their head and your wedding look and goals will not be changing too much. When you schedule too far in advance, it can be more difficult as your skin tone, hair color or length may change and all those things can play a part. Try and get it on your artists calendar as soon as possible so you are able to get the date and time you need. Artists schedules can book up quick so its good to get it on the books as soon as you can.

Here are some tips to get the absolute most out of you trial

  1. Schedule it on a day you are doing something fun! Like your shower or even a special date night with your partner.

  2. Bring examples of looks that you love. When you look at these pictures, think about why it is you love it. Is it the exact look you’re going for or is it the colors that are used? Is it the smoked out eyeliner? These details will help you and your artist narrow down exactly what it is you are looking for. Keep in mind that you may love a look you found online, but your artist might have an idea of a similar style that might be a better fit so try to keep an open mind!

  3. Wear your dress color and mimic the neckline if you can. It will help you envision yourself on your special day! E.g. Wear a white top with a V-neckline.

  4. Bring any hair accessories and extensions to your appointment so your hairstylist can really create a perfect day of style.

  5. Try and schedule your makeup and hair trial on the same day to get the whole look in one!

  6. Do not be shy! If you don’t love an aspect of your look, let your artist know! I know for me, I am so happy to adjust things so my bride feels confident that I will help her achieve her wedding day goals. Also, if you love something, let your artist know. Nothing helps your artist feel happier than their bride absolutely loving their look!

I hope you feel more confident and ready to show up to your trial! If you’re looking for a makeup artists let me know, I would love to help.
